ROBOT: Czech Watchmaking in the Iconic Setting of Grandhotel Pupp
The ROBOT brand has once again become part of the iconic Grandhotel Pupp in Karlovy Vary, now adorned with our custom-designed wall clock. This project marks our second collaboration with the hotel. Following our first clock created with Moser, we teamed up this time with renowned designer Rony Plesl. The result is a fusion of Czech glass, design, and watchmaking craftsmanship, bringing modern elegance and a nod to traditional quality into the grand spaces of the Pupp.
ROBOT: A Czech Brand Inspired by Heritage and Modern Craft
At ROBOT, we specialize in small-series mechanical watchmaking, where historical inspirations meet innovative approaches. Our products are born from the spirit of Czech industrial heritage, and each piece is crafted with meticulous handwork. The clock created for Grandhotel Pupp serves not only as a timekeeper but also as a symbol of Czech horological artistry.
The Artistic Vision of Rony Plesl
Rony Plesl, an esteemed Czech designer and artist, has left his unmistakable mark on these clocks. Describing his latest work, Plesl says, “For me, the clock represents ‘complex minimalism,’ where the quality of design and craftsmanship is hidden in the details. The key feature is the wedge-cut engraving of the large crystal circle, creating a deep relief on the dial that disperses light and divides the hours into 60 segments – minutes.” Gold accents and backlighting create a timeless effect that harmonizes with Pupp’s historic interior while adding a new dimension.
A Connection of History and Modernity
The ROBOT clock at Grandhotel Pupp is more than a functional piece; with every tick, it pays homage to the hotel’s history, representing a unique blend of tradition and modern Czech design.
