Franz Kafka was born on July 3, 1883, in the House at the Tower, once located on the corner of Prague’s Old Town Square beside the Church of St. Nicholas. The original Baroque building was later demolished during the clearance of the Jewish Quarter, but some of its elements—like the entrance portal and balcony—were preserved and built into the new structure that stands there today.
This is where our ROBOT boutique is now based—at the very address where Kafka’s story first began.
Kafka is widely regarded as one of the most influential writers of the 20th century.
His work speaks to feelings that remain deeply familiar even today—alienation, uncertainty, the quiet weight of systems we don’t fully understand. He had a rare gift for capturing the complexity of human existence and turning it into striking, unforgettable images. His influence goes far beyond literature, shaping theatre, film, and visual art across generations.
This was the starting point for our Franz Kafka limited edition watch.
Every detail was carefully considered to reflect his legacy:
– the anthracite dial, with its textured depth, mirrors the layered nature of Kafka’s writing,
– his signature is inscribed on the sapphire glass
– and on the caseback, a portrait and the words “In memory of our great writer” honour a voice that continues to resonate.
Inside, the watch is powered by the ROBOT/LJP G100 mechanical movement with automatic winding and a 65-hour power reserve. The case measures 39 mm, crafted from polished and brushed stainless steel, and is topped with a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating.
Only 100 pieces exist—a quiet tribute to a story that never really ended.
